Christmas Cookie Decorating Class for kids
The group sessions last one hour and will see children decorating nine Christmas themed buttery shortbread cookies, including Santa, hearts, snowmen, angels and Christmas trees.
They will learn different decorating techniques, like flooding, patterns, and how to use lollies and sprinkles effectively. The children will also learn how to fold mini piping bags from baking paper – a skill that will prove very useful beyond Christmas.
Each child will then get to take home nine decorated cookies in a box, along with cellophane bags to put the cookies in closer to Christmas (ribbon not included). They will also get the recipe for the shortbread and icing so they can make more at home if they wish.
Suitable for children aged 8 years and over. Children must be able to stay by themselves, while parents and caregivers can relax in the adjacent cafe.
PLEASE NOTE: we cannot accomodate dietary requirements in this class.
The ingredients used in the recipe for the biscuits and decorations are:
Biscuit ingredients: flour, sugar, butter, egg, baking powder.
Icing ingredients: egg white, sugar, lemon juice, food colouring.
Lollies: we use a variety of commercially available lollies like jelly beans, sprinkles, rainbow ribbons, golden and silver cachous (exact ingredients available on request).
